dopo un breve periodo di coma hanno riparato la mia coolpix 5700 e sostituito il sensore. gratis, fortunatamente. nel frattempo ho avuto modo di testare la microscopica S3 e non e' male, anche senza la modalita' manuale. la mia Zorki e' sotto test per vedere se entra luce, e la mia YashicaMat si sta riposando un po', ho molti negativi MF e sto sperimentando un po' con le tecniche di scansione artigianali.
ma quello che piu' mi rende felice e' il fatto che ho la mia Vespa LXV 125 nuova di zecca!!! uno scooter fantastico e dall'aria retro' con un motore eccellente, a basse emissioni, fa 39km/l ed e' STRABELLA! a breve postero' delle foto del mostro! ora e' tempo di programmare qualche viaggetto.

after a short coma period my coolpix 5700 has finally been repaired, and the sensor replaced. for free, luckily. meanwhile i had the opportunity to experience the micro S3 and it performs nicely, even though it lacks manual operation mode. my Zorki is under ligkt leak testing, and my YashicaMat is resting a little, i have many MF negatives and i'm experimenting some kind of homebrew scanning technique.
but what makes me most happy is that i have my brand new Vespa LXV 125!!! a great classic-looking scooter with an excellent engine, low emissions, 39km/l, and COOOL! i'm soon posting some shots of this monster! now it's time to plan some trip.

la mia amata Coolpix 5700 e' morta. beh, non esattamente. della sabbia e' entrata nell'obiettivo e il mirino fa vedere un mondo che non esiste! l'ho mandata in riparazione ma ci vorra' - gia' lo so - molto tempo. nel frattempo mi sono fatto prestare l'ultra compatta Coolpix S3 dal mi' fratello, per scattare a colori in piena luce.
la mia nuova Vespa sta arrivando e spero che me la consegnino la prossima settimana. ecco perche' ho trasformato la sezione "smanettone" nella sezione "viaggi", che credo riusciro' a sviluppare piu' velocemente. bisogna che ci metta qualcosa sui viaggi passati, come Francia del Sud e Corsica.

my beloved Coolpix 5700 is dead. well, not exactly. some sand has entered the lens and the viewfinder shows a world that doesn't exist! I sent it to be fixed but it will take - i already know that - a lot of time. meanwhile, i borrowed my brother's ultra-compact coolpix S3, to shoot color in bright light.
my new Vespa is on the way and i hope to get it next week. this is why i transformed the "computer geek" section in the "travels" section, which i believe to be able and develop more quickly. gotta put into it something of the past travels, as Southern France and Corsica.

sono di ritorno dalla mia vacanza in Irlanda e sono felice. ho il raffreddore, mi fa male la gola ma sono piuttosto soddisfatto. il viaggio e' stato buono e lungo - quasi 1500 km su varie tipologie di strade - il cibo buono e il tempo altrettanto. eravamo in quattro con un totale di sette macchine fotografiche, tre digitali e quattro analogiche! abbiamo scattato molte foto ma ci siamo anche divertiti un sacco. e somigliavamo ad una bizzarra troupe in caccia di materiale per un articolo del National Geographic sull'Isola di Smeraldo: macchine a telemetro e a pozzetto, birra, chowder, casino nell'auto, limiti di velocita' follemente alti, orsetti gommosi ed una delirante quanto fittizia sit-com intitolata "i Wexford" da una marca locale di formaggio cheddar.
un gran viaggio, molte belle cose anche se era la mia quinta volta in Irlanda e poi cosa? craic, come dicono gli irlandesi!

back from my Irish vacation i'm happy. i have a cold, my throat hurts but i'm pretty happy. the trip was fine and long - nearly 1500 km on a variety of roads - the food good and the weather nice. we were four people with a total of seven cameras, three digital ones and four film ones! we shot a lot of pictures indeed but we had a lot of fun as well. and we resembled a weird sort of troupe collecting material for a National Geographic article about the Emerald Island: rangefinders and ground glass cameras, beer, chowder, mess in the car, insanely high speed limits, sour gummy bears and a delirious fictitious sit-com named "the Wexford" after a local cheddar brand.
a great trip, lots of beautiful things even if it was my 5th time in Ireland and what more? craic as the Irish say!

ora basta. diamoci un taglio con gli acquisti fotografici. l'ingresso nel medio formato e' avvenuto ufficialmente con una YashicaMat, una biottica reflex che i forum danno come molto buona. pellicola da 120 se ne trova, e comunque si compra sempre con estrema facilita' su internet. diciamo che il parco macchine e' piu' che sufficiente: una digitale prosumer compatta (alla Majoli), una reflex, una macchina a telemetro e una biottica. e la primavera che avanza. e' tempo di divertirsi!

stop now. stop buying photographic stuff. my entrance in medium format was signed buying a YashicaMat, a high rated TLR on many forums. 120 film can still be found and can be easily bought on the internet. let's say my camera collection is more than enough: a prosumer digital compact (Majoli style), a SLR, a rangefinder and a TLR. and spring is blossoming. time to have fun!

ho finalmente sviluppato il primo rullino scattato con la Zorki. la scansione con il NikonScan LS2000 ha rivelato polvere e graffi, ma GIMP e' un ottimo alleato. ho postato una foto su flickr, si tratta del molo di Howth.
voglio raccogliere un numero sufficiente di immagini scattate sui treni e nelle stazioni per realizzare un lavoro organico ed una piccola pubblicazione digitale.

i finally processed the first film shot with my Zorki. The scan, made with NikonScan LS2000 revealed dust and scratches, but GIMP is a great buddy. i posted a picture on flickr, it's Howth's pier.
i want to collect enough pictures taken on the train and in the stations to make an organic work and a small digital book.

ci sono molte cose da dire visto che non aggiorno il weblog da circa un mese; innanzitutto Elena mi ha insegnato a sviluppare la pellicola b/n e a stampare i miei negativi, cosa che da un lato mi attira poiche' fare il lavoro da soli e' senz'altro gratificante, ma dall'altro mi spinge verso un sistema ibrido viste le quantita' di reagenti inquinanti da smaltire e il tempo necessario alla camera oscura tradizionale.
sto aspettando con ansia che arrivi il mio ultimo acquisto: una Zorki 4 a telemetro completamente manuale e priva di esposimetro. quando si fanno le cose, si fanno per bene.
ho pressoche' finito la mia tavola e ho gia' comprato il legno per la prossima, che si prospetta interessante: un inlay di mogano e abete con gli stringer in rilievo.
Marco e' in Irlanda e ci restera' per qualche mese, devo trovare il tempo e il modo di andare a trovarlo.

there's a lot to say as i haven't updated my weblog for a month; first, Elena taught me to process film and print my pictures, and i'm both attracted and pushed away as it's obviously fascinating, but there's a lot of hazardous waste and it takes way too much time.
i'm anxiously waiting my latest gadget: a Zorki 4 rangefinder camera. it's completely manual and it lacks a light meter. things got to be done the right way.
i almost finished my board and i've already bought new wood to make the next, which is expected to be interesting: a mahogany inlay into fir with embossed stringers.
Marco has left for Eire and wlll stay there for some months; i'd be supposed to go and see him.

ho finito di sistemare la fx-3; ho pulito il prisma, il mirino e lo specchio, ho riparato le guarnizioni e ora devo solo sostituire la pelle del rivestimento. a breve vedro' di mettere dentro quel rullino ilford scaduto nel 2004 e vedere che diavolo di foto allucinate saltano fuori.

i just finished servicing the fx-3; i cleaned the prism, the viewfinder and the mirror, i replaced the light seals and now i only have to replace the leatherette coverings. i'm soon loading that ilford film outdated in 2004 and seeing what hella pics will get out of it.
